Nik, the artist behind Baba Yaga, has always been enamored with the hidden worlds along the forest floor.

Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, she spent a childhood surrounded by nature...from ocean beaches to the deep woods. They are familiar places filled with memory, magic, & secret treasures that most people don't see.

Each work is a chance to create a precious object that will have a life—a character—of its own.

The Story

Primarily self-taught, Nik developed her own style & method of jewelry & art-making over many years, as well as building as many techniques as she could along the way.

Baba Yaga has been a labor of love for quite a few years now. Literally translated as "ugly grandmother", she is a character in ancient Eastern European & Russian mythologies. She teaches many lessons, but the most prominent are to always look beneath the surface---things are not always what they seem---& to always listen to your intuition---always trust your inner voice.

The goal has always been to create a line of artisan jewelry that was unique, beautiful, enduring, & wearable. Each piece is created with thoughtfulness & each element is chosen with careful regard to what purpose it will have for the wearer.

Objects with Intent

These pieces are meant to possess a depth of texture, detail, & wonder to invoke something special in anyone who wears them or hangs them in their space.

Personal adornment is an art form of realizing individual expression, as well as using ornament as personal amulet--charms that can evoke strength, courage, comfort, beauty, health, richness in life…anything the imagination wishes for.

100% Handmade

From intricate beadwork pieces, along with delicate semi-precious gemstones & sterling silver wirework—incorporating organic elements whenever possible—to metalworkings, including pendants of mixed metals, resin, found precious objects & relics from the forest floor.
